Inside, you'll find tanks holding local fish and crustaceans - nothing fancy, but genuinely informative displays about what lives in Cardigan Bay itself. The real draw is learning about the dolphins, seals and porpoises that patrol these waters.

It works best for families with younger kids who need structure and hands-on stuff. Teenagers might find it a bit low-key unless they're genuinely into marine biology. The displays focus on conservation and local ecology rather than spectacle, which is refreshing but also means you're not walking out awed by some giant tank of rays.

Stay for an hour, maybe ninety minutes if you're thorough. Admission costs a few quid - worth it as a rainy-day activity or to break up a beach day. The real magic happens when you step back outside: this is prime dolphin-spotting territory, and boats leave from New Quay harbour regularly if you want to see them in the wild rather than learn about them in a tank.

For a park-based holiday, you're spoiled for choice. Penrhyn Farm and Haven Quay West are essentially on the doorstep - genuinely walking distance. Wern Mill and Pencnwc are marginally further out but still within reach for an afternoon visit. The centre anchors a day that could easily include a proper walk along the coast path and fish and chips on the harbour.
