Calli's Corner

Just outside Tadworth, Calli's Corner is a proper working arts centre where local creatives actually make and show their work - not the usual museum job where everything's behind velvet ropes. You'll find studios, exhibitions that change regularly, and the kind of place where you might catch an artist mid-project if you time it right.

It's genuinely worth a stop if you're into contemporary art or craft work, though I'd warn you it's not a massive operation - you can see what there is in an hour or so. The real draw is the immediacy of it all; you're seeing work in the actual spaces where it's being made, which beats a polished gallery any day. Families with older kids who aren't bored by art will get something out of it, but toddlers will struggle.

Since you're staying at one of the nearby parks - Surrey Hills Yurts is barely two miles away, or Embers Camping by Polesden Lacey if you fancy something with more facilities - Calli's Corner makes a reasonable rainy-day detour between walks. The Norbury Park trails are only three miles south if you want to combine it with something more active. Check ahead on opening times and whether exhibitions are running, as hours can be variable for independent arts spaces. Worth the short drive from Tadworth, but don't expect the bells and whistles of a proper institution.
