Caer Lêb Romano-British Farm

Stone foundations and field boundaries scattered across a windswept hillside tell the story of an ancient Romano-British settlement that once thrived here between the 1st and 4th centuries AD. The remains aren't much to look at - weathered walls barely knee-high and the outline of what was probably a farmstead - but there's something rather moving about standing where families lived and worked nearly two thousand years ago.

History enthusiasts will appreciate the site's significance as evidence of how Roman culture blended with local Celtic traditions in this remote corner of Anglesey. The location, just outside Llanfairpwllgwyngyll, offers sweeping views across the Menai Strait that haven't changed much since Roman times.

There are no signs or interpretation boards, so you'll need to do your homework beforehand or bring a good guidebook. It's essentially a field with archaeological features, free to wander around but requiring a bit of imagination to bring the past to life.

Families staying at nearby Plas Coch or Coed Helen Holiday Park might find it a pleasant half-hour detour if they're already exploring the area's ancient sites. Kids might lose interest quickly unless they're already keen on history. Best combined with a visit to other Anglesey attractions rather than making a special trip.
