Bulls Green

Bulls Green is a proper working forest just east of Beccles, the kind of place where you can actually lose yourself for an afternoon without fighting crowds. It's managed woodland - not some manicured country estate - with decent tracks running through it that are genuinely pleasant to walk. You'll find native trees, open clearings, and enough space to let kids run about without worrying they're three steps away from the car park.

The appeal is straightforward: it's a solid spot for a woodland walk if you're staying at one of the local campsites. The Wildings Elms Meadow is practically on your doorstep at just over a mile away, making this an easy morning or afternoon outing. It works best for families who want some fresh air and a bit of exploring, or for anyone who fancies a quiet ramble without the trail-guide routine. Dogs will love it too.

There's no visitor centre, no facilities to speak of, and that's rather the point. It's free to access and you can spend anywhere from an hour to three hours depending on how far you fancy walking. Best in spring or autumn when the ground isn't waterlogged - Norfolk forests can get properly boggy. Summer's fine if you don't mind the insects.

It's the kind of place that slots in nicely with a park holiday in the area. Not a destination in itself, but genuinely useful if you're camping nearby and want something to do that doesn't cost money or require planning. Perfectly adequate woodland, nothing flash, but honest work.
