Buckingham Park & Playground

The playground here is what you'd expect from a proper community space - swings, slides, climbing frames, the usual suspects. Nothing fancy, but it does the job if you've got restless kids and need an hour to kill near Lancing. The park itself is straightforward green space with some walking paths, decent enough for a quick stroll before or after the seaside.

Families with young children will get the most mileage out of it. Older kids and teenagers will be bored within twenty minutes. It's the sort of place you stop at if you're already in the area rather than plan a trip around.

If you're staying at one of the nearby caravan parks - Eastern Sands, The Barn, or Beach Park are all within a couple of miles - then Buckingham Park is useful for burning off energy on a rainy afternoon. The Foot of the Downs site, a bit further out, gives you more countryside walking options if you prefer something less structured. Downsview Park is another option if you want a change of scenery.

Bring a ball or a frisbee if the weather's decent. Don't expect facilities beyond the basics. It's free and accessible, which counts for something.
