Bromley Hill

The walk up Bromley Hill takes about twenty minutes from the car park, and it's rewarding enough - you get proper views across Bracknell Forest once you're at the top. Not a dramatic peak by any stretch, but it's the sort of walk that justifies getting the kids out of the caravan for an afternoon without leaving them knackered by dinner time.

From the summit you can see across woodland that's genuinely pleasant in spring and autumn. The path itself is well-trodden and straightforward, no scrambling required. There's a real sense of being properly out in the countryside, even though you're not far from Windsor and the caravan parks dotted around Cranbourne Hall and Amerden.

It works best as part of a wider day exploring Bracknell Forest rather than a standalone trip. Families with younger walkers will find it manageable, though there's not much at the top itself - no cafe, no viewpoint shelter, just trees and space. Older kids who like a bit of independence will enjoy the route without needing constant supervision. The real appeal is the walk itself and the sense of having earned a decent view, rather than any specific feature at the summit.

Go on a clear day if you can. On misty afternoons the trees close in and you lose the whole point of climbing. Worth fitting in between your caravan base and exploring the broader forest paths nearby - it's the sort of walk you do once, enjoy, and then move on to the next thing.
