About Brats Hill
What strikes you most is how quiet it usually is. The path's well-trodden but you won't be queuing at the summit or navigating crowds. The terrain's a mix of moorland and rough grass, nothing technical, though it can be boggy lower down so decent boots matter. Allow a couple of hours all-in if you're taking photos or just enjoying the stillness at the top.
If you're camping at Fisherground Campsite just down the road, this makes an excellent morning or late-afternoon adventure to get some elevation and air into your legs without committing to a full day in the mountains. It works equally well as a standalone walk from the village. The best times are late spring through early autumn when the ground's drier and the light holds longer into the evening. Worth doing.
