The walking circuit is straightforward, maybe forty minutes if you're not stopping constantly, longer if you're serious about birdwatching. Spring and autumn bring the most visitors, but there's something about a grey winter morning here too - the water gets this steely quality and you'll likely have the paths largely to yourself. It's free to visit, which feels like a proper win given how well-maintained everything is. Families with younger kids get a solid hour out of it before restlessness sets in; older children interested in nature or photography could happily spend half a day. The reserve works brilliantly as a morning outing before heading to nearby Thriftwood Country Park for the afternoon - close enough that it's no faff to combine them. Don't expect dramatic scenery or marked viewpoints. This is gentle, quiet observation rather than destination walking.
