The old docks at Boston tell the story of a town that once rivalled London as a port. Boston Heritage Point is where that tale comes alive - a working waterfront that's changed hands and purposes more times than most English towns have had mayors. You'll find yourself standing where medieval wool traders once haggled, where Georgian merchants built fortunes, and where the Industrial Revolution left its greasy fingerprints all over the place.

What you actually get is a proper walk around the basin, the chance to spot working boats if you time it right, and views back towards St Botolph's Church - the one with the tower you can see from about fifteen miles away. It's not theme-park stuff. There are no gift shops or entrance fees that I could track down. You just turn up, have a wander, take some photos of the water, maybe grab a coffee from wherever's open.

Historians will spend a good hour poking around and reading any plaques that haven't weathered away. Families with young kids might manage twenty minutes before boredom sets in, unless they're the type who enjoy counting boats. Walkers benefit most - it's a decent stretch along the water and connects into wider town exploration.

If you're staying at Orchard Holiday Park or Big Sky Hideaway nearby, this is three to five miles away depending which direction you're coming from. Easy enough for a morning or afternoon slot before heading back to the caravan. Reality check though: it's a town landmark, not a destination in itself. Combine it with Boston's market, the church, and maybe a fish and chips lunch.
