Bosco's Den

Perched on the clifftops above Three Cliffs Bay, this rocky outcrop offers one of the most dramatic coastal views on the Gower Peninsula. The name comes from local legend about a hermit who supposedly lived in the caves below, though you'll find precious little evidence of old Bosco these days. What you will find is a cracking panorama stretching from Oxwich Point to Worm's Head on a clear day.

Getting there requires a decent walk from the car park at Penmaen, roughly 20 minutes across grassy clifftop paths that can get properly muddy after rain. The final scramble onto the rocks isn't suitable for pushchairs or anyone with mobility issues. Once up there though, it's well worth the effort - the view down to Three Cliffs Bay is absolutely spectacular, especially when the tide's in and the water's that brilliant turquoise colour.

Walkers and photographers will love this spot, particularly in the golden hour before sunset. Families with older kids who don't mind a hike will enjoy it too, but toddlers might find the terrain challenging. The whole area is free to explore, and you could easily spend an hour here taking photos and soaking up the scenery.

If you're staying at Three Cliffs Bay Holiday Park or Nicholaston Farm nearby, this makes a lovely morning or evening excursion. Just mind the cliff edge - it's a long way down to those beautiful beaches below.
