Bosahan Wood

A proper woodland walk near Helston that doesn't require booking or paying anything - you just turn up and walk. Bosahan Wood is the sort of Cornish forest that feels genuinely quiet, with decent paths threading through mixed woodland that's peaceful without being remote or awkward to navigate.

You're looking at a good hour or so if you take it slowly, though you can do shorter loops depending on what you fancy. The woodland floor is soft underfoot and the trees provide real shelter if the Cornish drizzle shows up, which it will at some point. Families with kids who can manage uneven ground will find it enjoyable - it's not a challenge, just a gentle exploration through proper woodland. Older children who like spotting things will do better than toddlers who need pushchair-friendly paths.

Walkers heading to Lanyon Holiday Park or any of the glamping spots around Penhallow Barn could easily fit this in as a morning outing before settling in. It's close enough to base yourselves nearby for a few days without it feeling like you've driven hours for a walk. The woodland works well alongside the bigger attractions of south Cornwall - it's the kind of low-key stop you do between the beaches and the gardens rather than a destination in itself.
