Bodlondeb Park

The walking trails at Bodlondeb Park wind through proper woodland just outside Conwy town centre - close enough for a morning visit, far enough to feel like you've properly left civilisation behind. It's a nature reserve, so expect mixed woodland, stream-side paths, and the occasional glimpse of wildlife if you're lucky enough and quiet enough to spot it. The paths are straightforward, nothing too technical, though they can get muddy after rain.

This is a solid spot for families who want a gentle walk without the commitment of a full mountain hike. Kids won't be bored for hours, but an hour or so of wandering, poking about in the undergrowth, and hunting for birds will keep them occupied. Walkers using the caravan parks nearby - Bryn Morfa, Cwt y Gwenyn, or Conwy Lodge are all within spitting distance - will appreciate the accessibility. History buffs won't find much here in terms of ruins or plaques, but the woodland itself is rather nice.

It's free to access, which is always welcome. Aim for early morning or late afternoon if you want to maximise your chances of seeing something interesting. Spring and early summer are when the birds are most active. The beauty of Bodlondeb is that it doesn't demand hours of your time - it's a proper escape for half a day at most, leaving the rest of your holiday for Conwy Castle or the coastal walks that make North Wales worth visiting in the first place.
