This museum, just outside Great Yarmouth, documents what happened when the Luftwaffe came calling - the air raids, the damage, the people who lived through it. You're looking at recovered artifacts, photographs, and exhibits that tell the story of how a coastal town coped when things got properly serious.

It's the sort of place history enthusiasts will spend a solid couple of hours in, turning over the objects and reading the stories attached. The collection isn't enormous, but it's genuinely local - this isn't a polished national museum, it's the real thing. Families with children old enough to sit still and absorb some narrative will get something from it; younger kids might find it heavy going.

The location works well if you're based at one of the nearby holiday parks - California Cliffs or Richardson's Hemsby Beach are within spitting distance. You could knock this out as a wet afternoon activity between beach days, or pair it with a walk through Great Yarmouth proper. Give yourself an hour minimum, though two is more comfortable if you're a proper history type.

Worth the detour? If you're interested in wartime Britain and how ordinary towns survived extraordinary circumstances, absolutely. If you're after flashy interactive displays and gift shop trinkets, you might find it a touch austere.
