Blea Barf

The name alone stops most people in their tracks, but Blea Barf is a proper fell worth climbing if you're based around Richmond. It's not a famous peak - you won't find the crowds you get on Pen-y-ghent or Whernside - which is exactly why it's worth the effort.

The walk takes you up moorland with views across Swaledale and the surrounding dales. On a clear day you can see for miles. History types won't find much at the summit itself - it's about the landscape and the walking experience rather than ancient monuments or ruins.

Blea Barf works best as part of a larger dales exploration rather than a standalone day out - pair it with walking in nearby Swaledale and you've got a decent weekend sorted.
