Black Linn Waterfall

The walk down to Black Linn Waterfall is genuinely lovely - a proper little ramble through native woodland that doesn't overstay its welcome. You're looking at maybe twenty minutes from the car park near Dunkeld before the trees open out and you hear the water properly. The waterfall itself isn't massive, but that's rather the point. It's a decent drop into a dark pool, the kind of place that looks cold and inviting in equal measure.

What makes it work is the setting. The rocks around the base are slick and dramatic, the pool is deep enough that it actually feels special rather than just another cascade. Walkers will appreciate the easy gradient - this is Scotland without the knees-destroying climbs - and families with primary-age kids will manage it fine in wellies. The water moves fast after rain, which changes the whole character of the place.

It's free, naturally, and you can be there and back from Dunkeld in under two hours if you're not hanging about. Best visited after decent rainfall when the flow is proper; in summer drought it becomes more of a trickle and loses something. There's no visitor infrastructure to speak of, which is refreshing.

If you're staying at Inver Mill Farm Caravan Park or Erigmore Holiday Park, this makes an excellent morning's entertainment without needing to travel far. It pairs well with exploring Dunkeld itself - the village is worth a wander - and slots neatly into a broader Perthshire tour.
