Bindon Hill

The walk up Bindon Hill rewards you with one of the Jurassic Coast's most underrated viewpoints. It's a proper clifftop scramble from West Lulworth - nothing too demanding, but steep enough to earn what's waiting at the top. From the summit you're staring out across Lulworth Cove's perfect horseshoe bay, with the Dorset coastline unrolling east and west like a geology textbook opened flat. Clear days are spectacular; misty ones give it an almost eerie appeal.

Historically, there's an Iron Age hillfort up there, which adds another layer if you're into that sort of thing. Most visitors won't notice the earthworks unless you're specifically looking, but it's the kind of detail that makes the walk feel less like just another clifftop stroll. You're standing on ground people genuinely fought over, three thousand years back.

The walk itself takes about forty minutes from the village depending on fitness. No technical gear needed, proper footwear essential - the chalk gets slippery when wet. On a sunny afternoon with wind in your face and that view in front of you, it's absolutely worth the effort. Families with older kids handle it fine; under-tens might find the final bit tedious.
