The name might suggest something more lively than what you'll actually find - this is simply a section of beach near the town centre rather than any organised entertainment venue. Families with young children will appreciate the gentle slope into the sea and the fact you can park reasonably close by. The beach huts add a proper British seaside feel, though don't expect deck chair hire or ice cream vendors unless you venture back towards the main Clacton seafront. Best visited during school holidays when there's a bit more life about the place. The sand can get quite packed when the tide's out, making it decent for castle building, but it's nothing special compared to other Essex beaches.
