Arthur's Beach (Sunny Cove)

The walk down to Arthur's Beach takes you through Sunny Cove's narrow lanes, and when you finally break through onto the sand, it's instantly clear why locals keep quiet about this spot. It's a proper crescent of golden beach, backed by low cliffs and scattered rocks that create natural pools when the tide retreats. The beach is compact - maybe 400 metres at full tide - which means it never feels rammed, even in summer.

What you get here is straightforward seaside: swimming when the conditions allow, rock pooling, and enough space to spread out without treading on someone's picnic. The cove faces south, so the afternoon light is excellent, and there's a real sense of discovery compared to the busier strands closer to Falmouth. It's the kind of place where kids will happily potter for hours in the rock pools, and adults can actually sit down without being crowded out.

Truro is your nearest proper town for supplies and facilities - Arthur's Beach itself has no lifeguards or beachside facilities, so come prepared. Check the tide before you go; at high tide there's barely enough sand to lay a towel. Allow a couple of hours minimum if you're bringing children.
