Annhill Coppice

Walking into Annhill Coppice on a damp Shropshire morning, you're immediately struck by how dense it all is - towering oaks and birches creating a proper canopy overhead. This woodland sits just outside Bewdley and offers the kind of quiet forest ramble that feels genuinely separate from the world, even though you're never far from civilisation.

The coppice itself is what you'd get if you let a working woodland do its thing - it's not manicured or designed for peak Instagram moments. You'll find yourself picking through a tangle of undergrowth, ducking under low branches, following paths that locals clearly know better than any tourist board. Spring brings bluebells thick on the ground; autumn turns everything bronze and gold. Wildlife here means you might see deer, certainly plenty of birdsong.

This is squarely for walkers who like their forest experience properly forested - not a theme park version. Kids will enjoy it if they're the type to get excited about sticks and streams rather than playgrounds. Allow a couple of hours if you're taking it slowly, less if you know what you're after.

From Bank Farm Holiday Park, barely twenty minutes away, this makes a cracking half-day outing to break up a lazy park holiday. Lodge Coppice is further out but still accessible as a morning adventure. The nearest town Bewdley gives you cafes and fish and chips for afterwards - frankly, you'll need them after scrambling through here.
