Allen’s View

Allen's View sits just outside Tenby, perched above the Pembrokeshire coast where the land drops away sharply towards the Bristol Channel. It's a nature reserve that rewards walkers willing to put in the legwork - nothing fancy, just proper coastal terrain with paths that wind through heathland and gorse. The real draw is the vantage point itself. From up here you get unobstructed views across the water, and on clear days the visibility stretches far enough to make the walk genuinely worthwhile.

This is walker territory, full stop. If your idea of a nature reserve involves car parks and viewing platforms, keep moving. The terrain is open and windswept, which means it's brilliant for anyone after a proper coastal ramble without the crowds you'd find at more famous Pembrokeshire spots. Families with older kids who don't mind a bit of exposure will get on fine here. Small children and anyone unsteady on their feet should think twice about the cliff edges.

You'll want to allow at least ninety minutes to do it justice, longer if you're photographing or just soaking in the space. The reserve feels genuinely untamed - no visitor centre, no facilities, just you and the wind. Check the weather before you go; this place is exposed and conditions change quickly. It's free to access, which is refreshing.

Stay at one of the parks nearby - Saltern Holiday Park is barely half a mile away - and you've got a proper walking base for exploring this bit of the coast properly. The route works as an easy morning's work before heading into Tenby itself.
