All Saints, Stradbroke

All Saints sits on Stradbroke's high street like a proper Suffolk landmark should - all flint and stone, with a tower that catches your eye from half a mile away. Inside, there's real medieval work: some lovely carved roof bosses, a font that's been doing its job since the 1400s, and windows that let the light in just right on a clear afternoon.

It's the kind of church that appeals most to walkers and architecture types. You won't need more than twenty minutes unless you're seriously into tracery and brass rubbings. The churchyard's peaceful too - decent spot to sit down if you're rambling between Woodbridge and somewhere else.

Free to visit, as far as I can tell, and there's usually someone about on weekends. The real benefit of All Saints is how it anchors a visit to this corner of Suffolk - pair it with a wander round the village itself, or base yourself at The Croft Campsite just five and a half miles away and take in the local churches as part of a wider exploration. East Anglia's got dozens of these medieval buildings, but Stradbroke's is worth stopping for if you're already in the area, not worth a special trip on its own.
