All Saints (Ellington Parish Church)

The church sits at the heart of Ellington village, a solid medieval structure that won't win you over with flash or drama - but that's rather the point. All Saints is the kind of place where centuries have left their fingerprints everywhere, from the stonework to the fixtures inside. You'll find proper medieval bones here, the sort of building that's been serving its community since way back, and the local volunteers who maintain it clearly know what they're doing.

It's worth stopping by if you're the sort who enjoys poking around old churches - the architecture tells you things about the people who built it and what mattered to them. The walk round Ellington is pleasant enough, and Huntingdon's close by if you need a proper cup of tea afterwards. Don't expect visitor facilities or a gift shop; this is a working parish church, not a museum.

If you're camping at Grafham Water Caravan and Motorhome Club Campsite just down the road, it's an easy detour between watersports sessions. Half an hour here, maybe forty minutes if you're methodical. The church isn't going to rewrite your holiday, but it's part of the fabric of the area and worth a look if medieval architecture interests you at all. Best to ring ahead or check the noticeboard for opening times - it's not always unlocked.
