Ancient oaks tower overhead as you step into this proper Worcestershire woodland, just a short drive from Worcester city centre. Aldwick Wood feels like stepping back centuries - thick canopy, dappled sunlight filtering through leaves, and that earthy smell of decomposing leaves underfoot.

Families will find decent paths for pushchairs on the main routes, though smaller children might struggle with some of the muddier sections after rain. Dog walkers absolutely love it here - plenty of space for energetic breeds to burn off steam. The woods stretch further than you'd expect, making it easy to lose an hour or two wandering the quieter trails.

Birdwatchers bring binoculars for good reason. I spotted woodpeckers on my last visit, plus the usual suspects of robins and blackbirds. Spring brings bluebells in certain clearings, though nothing spectacular compared to other Worcestershire spots.

Access appears free, with informal parking along nearby lanes. Allow at least an hour for a proper walk, longer if you're exploring with curious kids who want to examine every fallen log.
