Toposcope

Standing atop this Worcestershire hill just outside Pershore, you'll find a proper old-school toposcope - one of those circular metal discs that points out distant landmarks across the countryside. The view stretches for miles on a clear day, taking in the Malvern Hills to the southwest and the Cotswolds rolling away to the southeast.

Walkers and families with older children will get the most from this spot. The climb up isn't too taxing, though it's steep enough to get the heart pumping. Once you're up there, it's lovely to spend half an hour working out which peak is which and spotting church spires dotted across the vale below.

Bring a thermos if you fancy making more of it - there's space to sit and enjoy the panorama. The toposcope itself is well-maintained and actually helpful, unlike some that seem to point at nothing in particular.

This makes a cracking addition to a stay at any of the nearby holiday parks. Bredon View Holiday Park is barely two miles away, while Croft Farm Water Park offers a completely different experience just over four miles south. Perfect for burning off energy before an afternoon by the water or on the golf course.
