Airshaw Hill

The walk up Airshaw Hill from Skipton is straightforward enough - it's not one of those Pennine slogs that leaves you cursing your trainers. The summit sits at a modest 354 metres, which means most people can manage it without needing to be ultra-fit, though the last push steepens a bit.

What you get for your effort is a proper moorland viewpoint overlooking the rolling dales around Skipton. On a clear day the views stretch across rough grassland and into the distance - nothing dramatic in the way some of the higher fells are, but genuinely pleasant. The walk itself takes you through decent terrain, and you'll likely see other walkers and the occasional fell runner hammering past.

It's a good choice if you're staying at one of the local holiday parks - Woodsworth Exploring is only a short drive away - and want a half-day out that doesn't require a full expedition. Families with older kids will manage it fine. The moorland setting keeps things interesting, and there's something satisfying about a hill that doesn't take all afternoon.
