Adrenalin Zone is Blackpool's answer to indoor theme park thrills, packed with rides and attractions that'll keep kids and thrill-seekers entertained for a good few hours. You're looking at dodgems, go-karts, arcade games, and various rides - the sort of place where energy levels go through the roof and wallets take a proper battering at the token machines.

It works best for families with children aged five upwards, though teenagers will find plenty to get stuck into as well. The arcade section can swallow hours if you let it. Adults accompanying kids will find it bearable rather than entertaining, unless you're genuinely competitive about racing games.

Because it's indoors, Adrenalin Zone is brilliant during those inevitable rainy days when Blackpool's seafront isn't cooperating. You can't do the full tower and pleasure beach experience every single trip. It's also open year-round, so it fits neatly into school holidays without the crowds of the main attractions.

If you're based at Haven Marton Mere Holiday Village or Manor House Glamping - both within three miles - it's an easy drive or taxi ride. Just check current opening hours and admission prices before you go, as these do vary seasonally. Allow two to three hours depending on crowd levels and how obsessed your kids become with particular games. It's decent value if you budget for tokens, though it's not somewhere you'll want to spend your entire week. One or two visits during a fortnight's holiday makes sense.
