Aberlady Parish Church

The kirkyard at Aberlady sits quiet and contemplative, hemmed in by mature trees that muffle the sound of the nearby A198. This 14th-century parish church is the sort of place you stumble across rather than deliberately seek out - which is partly its charm. The building itself is modest, with the usual Scottish ecclesiastical features: whitewashed walls, a simple bell tower, and graves that read like a potted history of East Lothian families going back centuries.

What draws people here isn't architectural drama. It's the atmosphere. The churchyard is genuinely peaceful, and locals use it as a quiet walking route between the village and the broader East Lothian countryside.
