Oyster Hill and Bradlow Knoll offer cracking walks with views across three counties on clear days. The surrounding woodlands - Frith Wood, Dog Hill Wood, and Clissett Wood among them - provide excellent rambling through ancient coppiced forests.

Ledbury sits bang on the railway line between Worcester and Hereford, making it dead easy to reach without a car. The town's compact enough to explore on foot in an afternoon, but there's substance here beyond the obvious Tudor appeal. Independent shops still trade alongside the usual suspects, and the pubs do a proper job with local ales.

Staying at one of the nearby parks gives you the best of both worlds. You're close enough for evening strolls into town for dinner, yet positioned perfectly for exploring the broader Malvern Hills area and the Wye Valley beyond.
