Zufari: Ride Into Africa

You climb aboard an open-sided vehicle and suddenly you're rolling through African savanna without leaving Surrey. Zufari is Chessington World of Adventures' drive-through safari section, where giraffes amble past your window and zebras graze mere metres away. It's daft fun, genuinely.

The whole experience lasts roughly twenty minutes depending on queues, and you'll see everything from rhinos to antelope. Kids absolutely lose their minds when a giraffe leans down to eat from overhead branches. Adults tend to spend half the time wrestling with phone cameras. The animals look well cared for and have proper space to roam, which matters.

It works best if you're already at Chessington World of Adventures for the day - treating it as a break between theme park rides rather than a destination in itself. On its own, it's brief. Part of a broader park day? Excellent filler. The novelty wears off after one lap, though families with younger children often go round twice.

If you're staying at Chessington World of Adventures Resort right next door, you've already paid for entry. The nearby Polyapes Scout Campsite and Walton on Thames Camping and Caravanning Club Site offer cheaper accommodation within easy reach. Worth doing if you're combining it with the theme park, but don't base your whole trip around Zufari alone. It's the supporting act, not the headliner.
