Zoomie Dog Fields

The fields around Stockbridge have earned themselves a bit of a reputation among dog owners, and once you arrive at Zoomie Dog Fields, you'll understand why. It's essentially open grassland where dogs can properly run about without the lead - no faffing about on pavements, just space and freedom. The ground's decent underfoot, tends to drain reasonably well even after rain, and there's enough room that even anxious dogs can keep their distance from others if needed.

You'll see everything here from elderly spaniels pottering about to border collies making everyone else look lazy. It's the sort of place where dogs spend twenty minutes properly exercising instead of the usual walk around the block. Bring a ball or a toy if you want to tire them out faster - most owners do.

How long you stay depends entirely on your dog. Half an hour to an hour is standard, though some stay longer. There's no formal facilities that I'm aware of, so go prepared with water and a way to clean up afterwards. The location near Stockbridge makes it a solid addition to a park holiday - Stockbridge View is just down the road if you're staying in a caravan or motorhome and need somewhere for your dog to burn energy between exploring the area. It's particularly handy if you've got a young or energetic breed. Worth the trip if your dog loves other dogs and open space, but if you've got a nervous animal, go midweek when it's quieter.
