Young's Hill

The walk up Young's Hill from Dalbeattie takes about forty minutes if you're not dawdling, and the effort pays off with proper countryside views across the Lowlands. It's a genuine hill walk rather than a stroll - the path gets steep in places - but nothing that requires special kit or serious fitness.

Once you're up there, you get the kind of vista that makes you understand why people bother with hillwalking at all.
