Ynyslas Sand Dunes

The dunes at Ynyslas stretch for miles along the Cardigan Bay coastline, a proper wild landscape where you can lose an afternoon wandering between marram grass and sand. It's raw Wales - wind in your face, seabirds overhead, and hardly another soul if you time it right. The beach itself is broad and firm underfoot, backed by dunes that roll inland like frozen waves.

Walkers will find this their sort of place. The trails wind through the dune system with decent views across the bay towards the Snowdonia peaks on clear days, though the weather here changes fast. It's free to access and you can spend anywhere from an hour to half a day depending on how far you fancy going. Families with older kids will manage fine, though younger ones may tire of the sand and wind. The exposed location means it's not a sheltered spot for a picnic. Visit outside summer holidays if you want peace. Borth sits just inland - a small village with essential amenities.

Even from Cambrian Coast Holiday Park a mile away, it makes sense as a morning or evening outing to break up caravan time.
