The forest at Ynys-las sits just outside Llandeilo, a proper working woodland rather than a manicured country estate affair. It's the sort of place where you can actually walk without feeling herded onto a designated trail - though paths do exist if you want them. The trees are mixed woodland, thick enough to feel genuinely secluded even when you're only a few miles from town.

What draws people here is straightforward: woodland walks, a bit of peace, and the chance to let the kids run about without worrying they'll wander onto a road. The ground can be boggy in places, so decent footwear isn't optional. Allow an hour or two depending on how far you fancy going - it's not the sort of place where you'll spend an entire day, but it's exactly what you need if you're based nearby and want an escape into green.

For families camped at any of the glamping spots within five miles - Ravenscroft Retreats, Gelli, or Head For The Hills - this is a logical half-day outing. Walkers who prefer something less busy than the honeypot spots will appreciate the relative quiet. History buffs won't find much to grab onto here, so if you're the type who needs a story attached to a walk, you might prefer exploring Llandeilo's town centre instead.
