Wrangle Point

The walk out to Wrangle Point takes you along dramatic Cornish clifftops that feel properly exposed when the Atlantic wind's got up. It's a real headland - all jagged rocks and churning sea below - and the views back towards Bude are worth the leg work, especially if you time it for late afternoon when the light's golden across the water.

This is walker territory. The path itself is straightforward enough, but the cliffs are unforgiving, so it's not a casual stroll with toddlers in tow. Give yourself a good hour each way if you're not rushing, longer if you want to properly drink in the geology - the rock formations here tell you the whole story of Cornwall's volcanic past. Bring a windproof jacket. Always.

It's free, naturally, and there's no visitor centre or facilities out there, so come prepared with water and decent shoes with grip. The best time to visit is probably May through September when the weather's less temperamental, though winter storms can be spectacular if you enjoy that sort of thing.

If you're staying at Wooda Farm Holiday Park just down the road, this makes an excellent half-day excursion that doesn't feel tacked on. It's different enough from a standard beach day that families wanting a bit of proper Cornish drama will find it engaging. Atlantic Surf Pods is handily close too if you're based there. The point itself doesn't demand hours - it's the journey and the views that earn it.
