The old Victorian gardens at Worden Park sprawl across 150 acres just outside Leyland, and it's the sort of place that rewards a proper wander rather than a quick loop. You get woodland paths, open grassland, a decent lake, and enough planted beds to keep you occupied for a couple of hours without feeling rushed.

It works best for families with younger kids - the open spaces are safe for running about, and there's enough variety that attention spans won't snap after twenty minutes. Walkers will find the network of paths pleasant enough, though nothing particularly challenging or dramatic. The lake is the focal point, ringed by trees, and in spring the rhododendrons put on a decent show.
