You're looking at proper interactive science exhibits spread across multiple galleries, hands-on stuff that actually engages kids rather than just entertaining them for twenty minutes. The planetarium shows are the real draw - lie back in the dark while constellations wheel overhead and someone explains what you're seeing. It's far more effective than you'd expect.

This is absolutely a family operation, though teenagers into physics or space won't find it patronising. Allow three to four hours minimum if you want to do it justice - rush through and you'll miss the point. Winchester Morn Hill is practically on the doorstep at half a mile, though reviews are mixed. The centre works brilliantly as a rainy-day plan during a park-based holiday, or as your main event if you've got science enthusiasts in the family.
