Wighton Furlong CLump

A modest woodland walk near Peterstone that punches above its weight if you catch it right. Wighton Furlong Clump is essentially a dense patch of Norfolk forest - nothing fancy, just good old broadleaf and conifer mixed together in a way that feels properly isolated despite being so close to civilization.

You're looking at a straightforward ramble through trees, the sort of place where you actually hear yourself think. It's not a destination that'll take your breath away with views or dramatic landscapes, but if you're staying at Pinewoods Holiday Park nearby and fancy an hour's walk without travelling far, it does the job. The undergrowth is thick in places, which means it feels wilder than many Norfolk woodlands. Bring proper boots if there's been rain.

Walkers and families with older kids will get more from this than toddlers in buggies - there's no formal trails or interpretation boards, just woodland paths that locals clearly know. It's the sort of place you go for solitude rather than spectacle. Worth combining with other forest walks in the area if you're planning a woodland-focused break, rather than making it a standalone trip.

No facilities that I could find, so pack what you need. Best visited in spring or autumn when the undergrowth dies back a bit and you're not fighting through nettles. Expect to be here forty minutes to an hour unless you're particularly keen on tree identification.
