Whitefield Coppice

A modest woodland tucked away near Kenilworth that punches well above its weight for a quick woodland walk. Whitefield Coppice isn't going to blow your mind with dramatic vistas or rare species, but it's the sort of place you'll find yourself returning to on a grey afternoon when you need to stretch your legs without committing to a full day out.

The woodland floor is decent underfoot most of the year, with a network of paths that loop through broadleaf and coppiced trees. It's not ancient forest - the coppicing tells you it's been worked for centuries - but there's something satisfying about that. You're walking through managed countryside, not wilderness pretending to be untouched.

Families with younger kids will manage an hour here without anyone mutinying. Dog walkers genuinely rate it. Serious hikers will find it too compact to justify a drive if you've got Warwickshire's larger parks within reach, but for anyone staying at Mousley House Farm just down the road, it's a proper addition to a day. Pop in before breakfast or as an evening walk after the campsite quietens down.

There's no visitor centre, no café, no facilities to speak of. You'll want decent footwear if it's been wet. Go early in the day if you want solitude - it's local enough that it gets its share of dog walkers and joggers. Free to enter, naturally. Allow 45 minutes to an hour if you're doing the main loop without rushing.
