A good rainy-afternoon stop if you're based at Cherry Green Trees or Commons Wood Caravan Park, both only five miles away. St Albans is close enough for a proper day out - the station works well as a quick detour between the cathedral and town. Allow an hour, maybe ninety minutes if the team are there and happy to chat. Check ahead before visiting - opening is irregular and depends entirely on volunteer availability.
