Wenderton Hoath

Wenderton Hoath is a proper woodland walk just outside Canterbury, the sort of place locals know about and visitors often miss. It's open access forest with decent trails threading through mixed woodland - nothing dramatic, but solid if you want an hour or two off the main tourist trail.

The paths are manageable for families with reasonably confident walkers; young kids might find it a bit samey after a while, honestly. There's no dramatic viewpoint or historic ruin waiting at the end, so go for the walk itself rather than a destination. Dogs absolutely love it here, which makes sense given it's only 3 miles from Dog & Duck Leisure Park.

It's free to access and you can rock up whenever suits. Best in autumn when the light filters through properly, or spring when things are greening up. Summer can feel a bit close and buggy in the dense bits.

If you're staying at one of the nearby parks - The Foxhunter is just 4.6 miles away - this is a decent way to stretch your legs without driving into Canterbury proper. Pair it with a walk around the cathedral city itself and you've got a half-decent day sorted. The woodland's genuinely peaceful, which counts for something when you're on a holiday park break. Just don't expect signage or facilities. Bring what you need.
