Warren Belt

The Warren Belt is a sprawling stretch of woodland east of Bury that feels properly removed from the Suffolk villages nearby. It's not dramatic or particularly well-signposted, which is rather the point - this is working forest rather than manicured visitor attraction. You'll find yourself walking through mixed woodland with the kind of quiet that makes you realise how much noise you normally live with.

The trees here are dense enough to offer real shelter on drizzly days, and the paths wind through in a way that suggests you might actually get lost, though you won't. There's no visitor centre or café, which some will find frustrating and others will see as a blessed relief. It's the sort of place where dog walkers, local runners, and the occasional photographer turn up without ceremony.

Families with older kids will get on fine; those expecting playground facilities or waymarked trails with interpretive boards should look elsewhere.
