Walnut Clump

A small woodland patch on the edge of Kidlington that's easy to miss but worth a quick detour if you're in the area. Walnut Clump is exactly what it sounds like - a modest forest walk rather than a major destination, with mature trees providing decent shade and a few simple paths threading through.

It's the sort of place where dog walkers and local families pop in for twenty minutes to half an hour, not somewhere you'd plan a day around. The trees are tall enough to feel like proper woodland despite the suburban setting, and there's something refreshing about finding a quiet green space so close to town. Don't expect dramatic views or dramatic anything, really - this is gentle, low-key walking.

Walkers with young kids will find it manageable if they're after a short, unchallenging stroll. It's not going to thrill teenagers. Locals know it as a reliable spot to blow off steam between errands, which tells you something. The woodland floor can get muddy, so decent footwear makes sense, particularly after rain.

If you're staying at one of the nearby caravan parks - Greenhill Leisure Park or the excellent Cotswold View - Walnut Clump is handy for breaking up a driving day or a quick morning walk before heading elsewhere in the Cotswolds. It won't be the highlight of your holiday, but it's genuinely useful if you want fifteen minutes among trees without driving far.
