Wallingford Phone Box Museum

There's a working red phone box in the middle of Wallingford that's been converted into a tiny museum, and honestly, it's the sort of thing that shouldn't work but absolutely does. You're looking at a proper slice of British telecommunications history crammed into a space barely wider than your shoulders - old phones, directories, adverts, the lot.

It's free to have a look, and you won't need more than fifteen minutes unless you're genuinely obsessed with rotary dials and the death of public payphones. That's not a criticism. This is the kind of oddball attraction that makes a market town memorable, especially if you've got kids who've never seen a proper phone box used for anything other than a Doctor Who reference.

Wallingford itself is worth a proper wander anyway - medieval streets, decent riverside walks - so this fits nicely into a half-day exploring the town centre. Don't expect it to be a destination on its own. If you're staying at Bridge Villa or Benson Waterfront, which are walking distance, you'll stumble across it naturally.

The museum sits right in the heart of town, so parking isn't complicated. Go on a weekday morning if you want it to yourself. Weekend foot traffic means you might have to wait for someone to finish their moment of nostalgia before you can squeeze in. Worth the detour if you're already in the area. Don't make a special trip.
