There's a proper riverside walk along the Bridgwater waterfront that locals actually use rather than just tourists shuffling past with cameras. The town's built itself around the River Parrett, and the banks give you decent views of both the water and the brick Victorian architecture that tells you this was once something of a port. You'll spot the old quays where boats still moor, and if the light's right in late afternoon, the reflections off the water make the whole thing worth the stroll. The walk itself is flat and manageable - nothing taxing, which is the whole point. Kids won't get bored if you make it a game of spotting the boats and swans, though honestly it's more the sort of thing adults potter along during a lazy morning, stopping for a coffee halfway. It's free, naturally, and takes as long as you fancy - anywhere from twenty minutes to an hour if you're dawdling. Best done when the weather's decent because there's no shelter to speak of. If you're based at one of the nearby parks - Thornhills Holiday Park or Ashe Farm - it's a proper town outing that justifies getting the car out, especially combined with a browse of Bridgwater's actual shops and market if you time it right. The Somerset Levels caravan parks sitting closer to the water give you even easier access, but frankly the walk itself is the draw, not the destination.
