Von Vanderhaus Sweatshop is the sort of thing you'll either find brilliantly daft or completely miss the point of entirely. It's a themed installation tied to Boomtown Fair, the annual music and arts festival that happens near Winchester, so unless you're there during festival season, you won't actually see it. When it does appear, it's more conceptual art piece than conventional attraction - a deliberately over-the-top parody of fast fashion production lines, all tongue firmly in cheek.

The appeal is really for anyone with a sense of humour about consumerism and who enjoys the irreverent spirit that Boomtown brings to the South East. Festival-goers tend to gravitate here because it's the sort of thing that makes for decent photos and starts conversations. Fair warning though: this isn't a standalone day-trip destination. You're only getting the full experience if you're camping at one of the nearby sites during the festival itself - Winchester Morn Hill is just under a mile away, or Holden Farm Camping if you want something slightly closer to the action.

If you're planning a park holiday around Winchester, check the Boomtown calendar first. Outside festival dates, Von Vanderhaus essentially doesn't exist. Worth knowing before you book those caravan pitches expecting a quirky attraction to fill a rainy afternoon. It's clever, it's anti-establishment, and it's absolutely not for everyone - which is probably exactly the point.
