Vicarage Farm Heath (Nature Reserve)

Wild heathland stretches across rolling countryside just outside Bewdley, offering proper walking territory for those who fancy a ramble through bracken and gorse. Vicarage Farm Heath feels refreshingly undeveloped - no visitor centre, no interpretation boards, just raw Worcestershire landscape where you can lose yourself for a few hours.

Birdwatchers will have a field day here. The mix of heathland, scattered trees and scrubland draws everything from skylarks to yellowhammers, and the open terrain makes spotting them relatively straightforward. Dog walkers love the freedom - plenty of space for even the most energetic spaniel to run off steam.

Families with young children might find it a bit challenging. The terrain is uneven and there aren't obvious paths to follow, so sturdy boots are essential. But for teenagers who need to burn energy, or couples after a peaceful countryside walk, it's spot on.

No facilities whatsoever, which is both its charm and its limitation. Bring water and snacks, and don't expect any shelter if the weather turns. Allow two to three hours for a decent explore.
