Upper Lake

The water here is properly still on a calm day - dead flat and reflecting the trees like a mirror. Upper Lake sits just outside Bracknell, a decent-sized body of water that's more working landscape than manicured attraction, which is rather the point. You can walk the perimeter, take a seat on one of the benches dotted around, or just stand and watch the ducks potter about. It's the sort of place that doesn't demand much of you but rewards a quiet hour spent properly looking.

Families with young kids will get a solid walk out of it, though there's not a great deal to keep them entertained beyond chucking stones and spotting birds. Serious walkers might find it a touch tame - it's a gentle circuit rather than a proper ramble. What it does offer is accessibility. The paths are manageable, there's ample space to breathe, and it won't take hours out of your day.
