Ufton Park

The Kennet and Avon Canal runs straight through Ufton Park, and that's rather the point of the place. It's a proper nature reserve just outside Reading, where you can actually walk without bumping into the suburban sprawl the whole time.

You get water meadows, woodland, and stretches of towpath that are genuinely peaceful. The canal itself is lined with willows and the occasional heron if you're lucky. The reserve works beautifully as a morning or afternoon out. You could spend two hours here without rushing, three if you're the type to stop and actually look at things. There's no café or facilities to speak of, so bring what you need.
