Tywyn Bâch

Tywyn Bâch is a modest stretch of sand and shingle tucked into the Carmarthenshire coast, just outside Burry Port. It's the sort of beach that rewards low expectations - you won't find dramatic cliffs or a sweeping bay, but you do get a proper working seafront with character. The beach itself is small, backed by a seawall and residential properties, which means it feels more like a local secret than a tourist destination. Walking here at low tide opens up wider stretches of sand; high tide pushes the water right up to the wall.

You'll spend maybe 45 minutes to an hour here unless you're determined to paddle or build sandcastles - it's not a sprawling affair. The real appeal is the genuine Welsh feel of the place. There's none of the overdevelopment you get at bigger resorts. Families with young children will find it manageable; walkers will appreciate it as part of a longer coastal route between Burry Port and the Pembrey shoreline.

Parking is street-side and can get tight on summer weekends. Check the tide before you go - it makes a real difference. If you're staying at Shoreline Caravan Park just 1.4 miles away, it's an easy walk or short drive. Pembrey Country Park, only 3 miles off, offers more facilities and better beach if Tywyn Bâch feels too cramped. Worth half a morning if you're in the area, but don't make a special journey for it alone.
