Tyres on the Trent

A collection of old tyres arranged in the River Trent near Retford - that's it, really. Someone, at some point, decided to dump a load of them in the water, and now they're there. It's the sort of thing that makes you go "right, well, that's a thing" and take a photo before moving on.

You won't find opening hours or admission fees because there aren't any. It's just there, free to look at from the riverbank. The appeal is entirely novelty value - a bit of industrial oddity in the Nottinghamshire countryside. History enthusiasts will find nothing to sink their teeth into. Families with young children might find it mildly interesting for five minutes, but there's no interaction or activity involved. Walkers using the Trent Valley might stumble across it and think "odd", which is fair enough.

The Trent is lovely for riverside walks in this area, and if you're staying at Trentfield Farm - barely a spit away - you could wander down and see what the fuss is about. It won't add anything to a proper park holiday, though. Your time is better spent exploring Sundown Adventureland or Wild Acre Village if you've got kids in tow, or walking the actual river itself if you're after countryside peace.

Go if you're passing. Don't plan a trip around it. The novelty wears off faster than you'd think.
